Wheelchair accessible parks are actually not too hard to find, although to be fair I’ve been to an inaccessible park before. It’s also a really nice day outside, the sun is shining, it’s a bit warmer than normal, and there’s a slight cool breeze blowing. Days like this, especially after a really cruel, snowy, cloudy January, just make you want to go outside and enjoy the outdoors. In this video that’s exactly what I talk about. It’s been a really rough winter, in fact, one of the worst on recent record. For those of you in wheelchairs you know exactly how bad it can get because of the snow. It’s nearly impossible to use your wheelchair on snow laden sidewalks, or even ice for that matter. I know the struggles, believe me…I KNOW! Haha. Well, here in Utah January is the big snow month. It usually doesn’t snow much in December or February so I think we’re out of the woods already, which again, is the read I am enjoying a beautiful day outside in a wheelchair accessible park. For those of you who don’t know what it’s like being in a wheelchair, trust me, accessible anything goes a long way. And….I really hope this nice weather lasts, although it is going to snow later this week. It probably won’t be a big snow storm though. Just another quick wheelchair tutorial on how to brake on an older model wheelchair. Before you say it’s too simple to be a tutorial, you need to understand that I cater to wheelchair bound people of all ability levels. Some people do not know how to brake in a wheelchair because they simply may be new to one or maybe have less brain functioning that requires this type of education. So in this How To tutorial I teach you the absolute basics of braking in a wheelchair. First the right side, then the left. It’s really very simple. Those who need this tutorial can go back and watch it over again as many times as needed so they can get it right. Keep in mind that some wheelchairs have the brake controls inverted where you pull inward to lock it. This is an older model wheelchair so the brakes are not inverted so it’s pretty simple. If you have an inverted brake wheelchair just apply the same methods in this tutorial only the opposite directions and that should do it. If you happen to have brakes that don’t work either way, then I don’t know what to tell you, this How To tutorial is for basic brakes. Brakes are important for making sure the wheelchair doesn’t roll away, especially with you in it. It would be dangerous if you had a wheelchair but didn’t know how to brake. I’m sooooo incredibly excited to share this huge announcement with you guys, I started a second channel!! Don’t worry, I will still be vlogging on this channel, but I wanted to start a new passion project. My second channel is an ASMR roleplay channel based off of video games such as The Legend Of Zelda currently and moving into Final Fantasy, Mario Bros, and other games. ASMR stands for Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response and is that oh so good tingly feeling you get on your head and down your spine from triggers such as audio and visual stimulation. ASMR is also helpful in aiding sleep and stress reduction as many of the triggers used in the therapy are stress reducing and relaxing. I’ve been watching ASMR videos for over a year now almost every night because I sometimes get stressed and can’t sleep some nights, it’s difficult for me. I decided to add a gaming twist to it because honestly I love YouTube roleplays and I’ve had some pretty epic video game story lines stuck in my head for the last ten years or so. My second channel so far only has a few videos on it, but monthly I’ll be adding about three or so new videos so you’ll definitely want to stick around and watch for them to come! If you liked this video please thumbs it up and share it, thank you.
My wheelchair got trapped in the snow and I’m legit stuck! HEEEELP!! Yeah, it wasn’t great, but in this scenario I show you the danger and difficulty of being stuck in a snow bank. My wheelchair is pretty hefty, it’s one of those old hospital types until I get my new one. But even though it’s a tank, it can get stuck in snow pretty easily, and this bank is pretty huge, let me tell you! One easy way to get unstuck is to shift your weight around so as to loosen the snow or ice. This is easier done in heftier chairs. If you have one of those custom light wheelchairs, you will not have this advantage, however you will have the advantage of having descent traction on your wheels so you won’t get stuck as easily in the first place. You can watch my tutorial on how to get through the snow, or learn how to prepare for a snow storm in another one of my videos, I got you covered. But for the sake of the topics in this video, I specifically wanted to focus purely on just how to deal with getting stuck in a snow bank particularly seeing as how this is the single most difficult problems people in wheelchairs face in the winter time. If you find yourself in this situation, you now know how to get out of it other than calling for backup. If you liked this video please thumbs it up and share it, thank you.
Today I got to work with Freakin Rad and Kuma Films and it was freakin’ rad! They needed a few extras on set today and I thought since I’ve done a lot of YouTube acting and I vlog that I would sign up…and I got a part! So basically I get there and my buddy Patrick Hayes calls me and says to go into Guru’s restaurant because they were filming behind there after they got the other shot done. So I’m in the restaurant waiting and after a while Patrick shows up and we go out back into the parking lot. There I found a food truck and some of the Freakin Rad film crew there. Then this extremely cute blonde girl shows up and it turns out that she was actually going to be acting with me. We talked for a minute and then all of a sudden there was a problem with the food truck….it wouldn’t start and they needed to move it into position! So all the guys started pushing it and finally got it where it needed to be. Shortly after Freakin Rad wanted Char (the cute blonde girl) and myself to go up to the food truck and start acting like we were a couple on a date ordering some food, so we did. The second scene involved robbers who run out of a building and head our way and that’s when Char and I run for our lives. Those were the only two scenes in the film that I had and Char was with me the whole time. I felt bad for not talking to her much on set, but I think we were both pretty cold and almost completely frozen on set so whatever. If you liked the video thumbs it up and share it, thank you.
